In the exhibition's main piece, a large floor monument of cracked ceramic tiles, unfolds with a detailed universe of breaks, tensions, textures, layers and nuances. The room's soundtrack is a quadrophonic sound piece, composed with theremin and organ pipes, moving fluidly and rhythmically in and out of harmony.
The installation creates a sensory space that, in an abstract way, examines the difficult size of being human in these times, with extreme conflicts, war and environmental disaster and also.
Photographic enlargements of the tile work can be seen in poster stands and billboards. Individually, they create their own image of a frozen moment.
Bio
Kjærsig's practice explores different forms of material reverberation and how they arrange and alter our relation to spatial, human and more-than-human environments; her works are visual, rhythmic, and relationally inquisitive rather than purely analytical, and are conveyed through a variety of disciplines, which include sound pieces, ceramic installations and performance.
Kjærsig graduated from Funen Academy of Fine Arts in 2016. From 2014-2015 she had an internship in Berlin with the artist group Vinyl- Terror- & Horror. She has presented work at Sydhavn Station, Brandts, OK Corral, Cobra-rummet, Den Frie Centre of Contemporary Art and performed with the sound collaboration Duo Demona at
O-Overgaden, Kunsthal Aarhus, Mayhem, Cph Artweek and Radar.
The exhibition is kindly supported by The Danish Arts Foundation and 15. Juni Fonden.
